Tuck Everlasting Writing

Two options for writing about Tuck Everlasting.
This should be fun! Chooce one of these two scenarios to write about.  Use Google Docs and share drafts with me or another student for suggestions and editing.


Scenario 1:  Miles finds his wife and children.

It's all up to you.  It could be he found them before the action in the book or perhaps seeing Winnie inspires him to find them.  What does he discover?  Does he tell them who he is?  Does he tell them about the water?  What does he find?  It's all up to you!

Scenario 2:  Jesse finds Winnie

At some point after the main action of the book, Jesse comes back and finds Winnie.  What does he find?  What does he do and say?  Does he watch her life from afar and leave or does he ask her why she never came to him.  It's all up to you!

Write a funny story about using your adopted word.  E-mail it to me at chuck_bunting@newton.k12.ma.us or write it on google docs and share it with me.  Name the file "Your name--Adopted word." so I know what to look for.  Good luck and have fun!!

1. Listen to this story from NPR about words that are no longer in the dictionary. 
2. Go to the  website savethewords.org and choose a word you want to adopt.
3. In the comments section below tell us what your word is and why you chose it. Don't forget to use your first name so I can give you credit!

but there's more!!!!  Our second writing contest will be to write an amusing story about your attempt to use on of these poor, abandoned words.  It can be true, exaggerated or completely fictional.  I will put up an entry form in a few days.
